About

play by Paula Jaegar PROGRAMME OF PUSHKIN CLUB Language: In English Losing your political faith is like getting shot in the guts. Everything threatens to come tumbling out. You have your hands on material that never should see the light of day. Touching it hurts. You want to look at what ‘s been inside you all your life, but your hands are clamped tight about the bloody spilling coils, and if you let up the pressure for one moment — you're done for. Moscow, 1967: the fiftieth anniversary of the Revolution. At the Molotovs' apartment the table is set for a formal banquet. The former Commissars, Polina Zhemchuschina and her husband, are dressed up, and waiting. For they're coming, the Nomenklatura, turning out on this freezing winter night to pay homage to the arch survivors of triumph and disgrace, purge and rehabilitation. To celebrate, to reminisce, to drink a toast to absent friends. To bear witness to the idealism of youth and the endurance of their faith. They're coming. Aren't they? Presented by 17 dragons Theatre Company Written by Paula Jaegar with an introduction by Rachel Polonsky, author of ‘Molotov's Magic Lantern'
