Social Realism with a twist
About
Oil and DreamsThis exhibition comprises a selection of paintings by the Azerbaijani artist Torakhanim Aghabayova that explore the rich theme of oil, its fascinating infrastructure and the people living in the oil-booming city of Baku, the Azerbaijani capital. Vibrant, contemporary, and often ironic, these paintings give an interesting insight into the modern life of the country.
Born and raised in the centre of Baku, Torakhanim Aghabayova lives amongst the contemporary Azerbaijan that she portrays. Whether playing in a rock band as a teenager, studying for her Master's degree at Azerbaijan Fine Art Academy, or now teaching young, budding artists, Torakhanim has always had her finger on the pulse of life in her homeland, especially regarding what is new and progressive, and this is reflected it in her art.
Torakhanim Aghabayova presents Social Realism with a twist - be assured that this exhibition will not leave you indifferent.
