Louise Colbourne & Jim Hobbs present- From Slapstick to Horror - The need for the physical in film

About

Having both trained as sculptors to an MFA level, video and film artists Hobbs and Colbourne share an interest in the physical nature and content of film and video installation, the scale and luminescent possibilities of the projected moving image. For Physical Center Hobbs and Colbourne have joined forces to screen a selection of short film and video works that show intense physicality on screen. These range from the comedy of slap-stick through to more demanding performances and scenarios that are closely aligned with horror and torture. This screening will include both projected 16mm films as well as video works spanning the years from 1930 to the present.
