About

The seven deadly sins serve as a warning from a higher authority to curb our worldly instincts and base behaviour. Steel's medieval-inspired stained glass captures the malevolent intent and invocations of destruction inherent in these crimes against society. From the mutilations in Wrath to the solicitations in Lust, these images will challenge your sensibilities. Perhaps now you will think twice before straying from the path of righteousness. We must warn you: these images show scenes of mutilation and sexual indecency. Glasgow-based artist Angela Steel began working with glass in 2001, and her stained glass is now sought after for private collections and public buildings. A member of the Architectural Glass Artists studio in Deniston, the techniques used vary little from those of medieval times, using handmade glass, etched flashed glass and vitreous enamels to create what are essentially paintings with light.
