About

A group of 12 contemporary artists have come together to bring you Apocalypstick — an exhibition opening at The Nunnery Gallery, Bow in February exploring 21st century culture using a variety of techniques and styles but all inspired by colour and chaos. The exhibition will be a multi-coloured riot of painting and sculpture, bringing together artists whose work is influenced by our everyday experiences of lurid popular culture. The artists use various approaches and techniques from painting and sculpture, to collage and pattern, to investigate themes that dominate contemporary culture, such as consumerism and idols. They all use colour in very different ways as a platform for discussion about the use of colour in art and the world around us. Featuring work by: Jonathan Baldock, Shane Bradford, James Ferris, Richard Gasper, Ludovica Gioscia, James Howard, Sian Hislop, Dunstan James, Sinta Tantra, John Walter & Jeremy Willett. Opening event: Thursday 3rd February, 6.30 — 9.00pm (as part of Time Out First Thursdays) Special event: Friday 25th February 6pm — 9pm Artists' Desert Island YouTube. The exhibiting artists present a selection of videos that have influenced their work, followed by an informal discussion.
