Tracing Tea

About

An exhibition of photographs from the heart of Central Asia, with a focus on the role of tea and trade in shaping the region's cultures past and present. The Tracing Tea project aims to discover, record and ultimately present the stories of ordinary people and extraordinary places, delivering the individual stories both behind the headlines and where the conventional media rarely treads. The focus on tea — the love of which is shared by cultures in every corner of the globe — and trade provides insight into not only the things which bind us together but also the subtle differences that simultaneously make communities distinct and intriguing. The project is led by Max Lovell-Hoare and Sophie Ibbotson, who travel constantly across the ‘Stans and Subcontinent from their home in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
