About

Speakers: Heather and Ivan Morison, and Roger Luckhurst, Professor of Modern and Contmporary Literature at Birkbeck College, University of London. Luna Park met an untimley end in Portsmouth this year when it burnt down after inhabiting Southsea Common during August and September. The sculpture was due to come to Colchester from Portsmouth, moving to Cardiff in 2011. The spectacular sculpture - and its demise - raises many timely and disturbing issues concerning our relationship to the future. An extinct species, the dinosaur presents a melancholic figure which continues to hold a unique position in the popular imagination. At this event the creators of Luna Park, Heather and Ivan Morison will discuss the project with Roger Luckhurst, exploring the Morison's work within the context of a potentially dystopic future.
