About

Work displayed in this exhibition is a selection of artwork created by approximately 20 participants who attend both Waterside Mental Health Resource Centre and the Stewart Mental Health Resource Centre. The exhibition marks the ending of workshops which have taken place at Project Ability, T103 over a 12 month period, acknowledging the significant role the members' feel that the groups have made to their lives. Each artist, whilst working closely with art tutors Iona Grey and Susan Bryson, has been encouraged to freely develop their own work and broaden their artistic skills by exploring a variety of new materials and techniques. As a result the artists have gradually gained confidence in their ability to make art and in turn experience a growth in self-confidence and self-esteem. The artists have all experimented using a variety of media from acrylic on canvas to ceramics to various forms of printmaking and glasswork. Individual's approach to their work practice has been varied from some artists finding their niche over time in one technique and exploring it in more depth, to others covering a number of techniques using a variety of subject matter. The exhibition takes place at Mono, Kings Court, King Street, Glasgow G1 5QP.
