A BEAUTIFUL ENCOUNTER WITH UNSAFE SCULPTURES

About

The sculptures in this exhibition are a progression from works shown in Jones' previous exhibition at the gallery. Constructed from saw blades and knives, they add intimidation and danger to a purity of line. The cross reference of the metallic edges and the organic shapes they create enhance the conflict that is inherent in the artist's vision. For Jones, the work is a response to perceived alienation and gender & trans gender politics, for the viewer, the tension and fragile boundaries created by the sculpture convey a universal emotion that transcends any original motivation. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Richard Martin
