About

The Very Public People project is the brainchild of artist Ania Bas. Throughout February 2010 a number of individuals who play a part in West Bromwich's cultural community were interviewed by 16 local artists. Celebrating the input of people who contribute to the life and culture of the area, Very Public People draws attention to the everyday heroes of society, people who drive us to work, look after other people's children, sell us food and smile at us even on a bad day. Visitors to The Public will be able listen to extracts from these interviews, taking an insightful journey into the lives of people who are often uncelebrated. The recordings of a series of talks with people of West Bromwich for people of West Bromwich that took place throughout February 2010 at The Public will be shortly made available on the project website:
