About
Sprawl, an exhibition of works by Josie Clinton produced from 2007 - 2010, explores 'the idea of a city being almost an organic being - breathing, living, spreading its roots, and constantly growing.' In Sprawl, Clinton interprets the urban landscape of Manchester as an archaeological dissection, exposing the city's inner self by carving into abstract paintings such as the Nocturne series to unveil the labyrinthine patterns of a city both neglected and transformed.Josie Clinton is a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University and a member of Rogue Artists' Studios in Manchester. Clinton has exhibited in various group shows including Emerge (2006), Victoria Baths, Manchester; Ariels (2007), MMU Degree Show, Manchester; and Salon Show (2009), Temporary Art Space, Halifax.
