Neil Armstrong - Gestalt

Newcastle Upon Tyne based artist Neil Armstrong is concerned with the contradictions inherent within the process of image making. With this series of photographic prints and video Armstrong examines what constitutes 'perceived reality' within an image and whether anything can be considered a true 'record of events. 'Gestalt' continues Armstrong's exploration into what it means to live within the present, whilst that moment is forever being left begind - with gun and the the explosion being a metaphor for this 'possibility of instant change.' This exhibition will showcase new works inspired by the DLI collection plus a video installation featuring Andrew Dodds, a member of the RAF 5131 Bomb Disposal Squadron, and including images taken whilst he was on tour in Iraq.
