About

David Redfern will be showing a number of constructions and works on paper in the ‘Cello Factory, 33-34 Cornwall Road, Waterloo, London SE1 8TJ from Monday October 11th to Saturday 16th October from 12.00 to 18.00 daily. The wooden constructions are based on Renaissance altarpieces, especially their shape. Many diverse materials are brought into play, jigsaws, mirrors, nails and luggage labels for example. The works on paper continue the theme of science and belief using collage, newspaper, old library books, photographs and giclée prints. David Redfern studied at Reading University and The Slade School of Fine Art. He has worked for the Arts Council of Great Britain at the Serpentine Gallery and has been teaching at Croydon College on art and design courses for the last twenty-five years. He was elected to The London Group in 2000 and has since become their Archivist. He will be publishing a History of The London Group for their centenary celebrations in 2013. David Redfern works in ACME's Childers Street Studios, Deptford.
