2010 is the year of the tiger and the current population of wild tigers is about 3200. By the next year of the tiger in twelve years' time will there be any tigers left? It is not too late to save this species. This year has been marked by the world's most ambitious effort in conservation thus far: to double the number of tigers in the wild. As part of this global drive to save the highly endangered species, Asia House will be hosting a major new exhibition, The Tiger in Asian Art. Through this unique exhibition, factual display and series of informative events, Asia House aims to galvanise public support and motivate people to take action to save the tiger. Featuring stunning interpretations of this endangered species through the ages, The Tiger in Asian Art connects fine and contemporary art spanning the last three thousand years with an urgent environmental issue. Including loans from the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum, as well as several private collections, the exhibition will include rare Asian paintings, sculptures, textiles and photographs, many previously unseen.
