firstsite has a dynamic team of new Associate Artists working on many different projects. As an introduction to their work this summer we have invited them to be residence in the Project Space at Short Wyre Street. Drop in and see what they are creatng - or get involved yourself. Cinzia Cremona, an Associate Artist with firstsite since April 2010, creates video and performance work using modern communication technology. Also a member of the Critical Practice based at Chelsea School of Art, she is researching a PhD on video performance. Cinzia will develop new work in the project space and invites you to contribute to a mobile skype and communication fantasy world. Associate Artist Jevan Watkins Jones will develop work on 'Buddleia & Buildings' which will become an installation of drawings, paintings and photographs celebrating the most tenaciously triumphant of plants, buddleia, and its colonising of urban habitat. There will be opportunities for budding artists to record their encounters and post them onto the new firstsite blog or come in and pin them up in the Project Space as part of a growing installation. Families, cut flower allotment users or flower club members can join a drawing field trip during the residency. Don't miss the great buddleia picture and plant sale at the end!
