Raymond Depardon - Villes
Gallery Talk Responding to Raymond Depardon Exhibition
In response to Ffotogallery's current exhibition Raymond Depardon - Villes/Cities, Dr Daniel Meadows, photographer and lecturer in Photography and Participatory Media at Cardiff University, discusses what is revealed when amateur photography is brought into the light. Invisible Nation will focus on the notion of a democratic, 'amateur' approach to photography; a shift away from purely technical considerations or a desire to 'capture' the essence of the subject in a single image.
Parallels will be drawn between Depardon's involvement in the project 'Images Cachées - Hidden Images' at Luxembourg's National Centre for the AudioVisual and Meadow's own experiences as creative director of Capture Wales, a project which has been described as "the most ambitious of all the BBC's user generated content offerings".
Please join us for Invisible Nation on Thursday 15th July from 6pm at Turner House, for drinks and discussion about the issues which Depardon's exhibition raises.
FREE EVENT - to book your place email helen@ffotogallery.org
Invisible Nation will be followed by July's artist FORUM, from 8pm.
