About

Camberwell College of Arts' Summer Shows are the perfect place to spot the brightest emerging talent in painting, illustration, ceramics, photography, conservation and graphic design. Camberwell is one of University of the Arts London's six Colleges and is joined by: Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Chelsea College of Art and Design, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Art. For a sneak preview of what to expect from this year's shows visit Showtime www.arts.ac.uk/showtime , an online gallery profiling the University's final year students. Featuring work by Foundation and final year Undergraduate students, highlights of Camberwell's show include: ”¢ Elizabeth Warrington takes household materials and packaging and turns it into beautiful transcendental pieces of artwork including man-made forests and illuminated cities ”¢ Philipp von Frankenberg is recreating a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds using clay pigeons. The piece draws comparisons between Hitchcock's vision of birds turning against the humans that cage and exploit them, and the art world, in which artworks are hunted by gallerists and dealers ”¢ On show at different points throughout the building, Mark Walker's ‘Roundhead' features five almost identical heads on plinths slowly rotating at 2rpm ”¢ Syed Saddique Ali's series of photographs focus on passport forgery and the objects and tools used in the process
