Recent Works by Peter Beckett
Pete Beckett comes from a large family with a long history in painting, going back at least 4 generations. Born in 1961, Pete lives and paints on the North Shropshire/South Cheshire border, in a stunning place of extraordinary rural beauty, with his wife and teenage son.
Pete's landscapes are inspired by his affinity with the enormous variety of open, natural space.
He draws upon the immediate country around him, as well as his extensive memory-bank collected from travelling to some of the world's most remote locations, ranging from deserts, mountains and tropical rain forests throughout Africa, Asia and the Arctic.
Other inspiration comes from the use of paint itself. The interplay of colour and form is used to build up images through being applied in layers. In this way, his paintings have a vibrancy and enable the viewer to trigger recognition of places from within their own imagination.
He works mostly in acrylics and oils.
