Language: In English Pushkin House is proud to present the second series on Russian architecture — EXPLORING RUSSIA'S ARCHITECTURE MAPS (Moscow Architecture Preservation Society) for Pushkin House 2009-2010 Lecture by Rosamund Bartlett Rosamund Bartlett, Russian cultural historian and biographer of Chekhov, has launched a campaign to restore his dacha in Yalta after seeing how dilapidated it has become since the fall of the Soviet Union. This is where The Three Sisters, The Cherry Orchard and the stories such as The Bishop were written. Its interior survives almost in its original state and the house is full of Chekhov's possessions, still redolent with his personality. A stalemate between the Russian and Ukrainian cultural authorities has left the house vulnerable to decay and all but abandoned.
