About

To celebrate the opening of David Nash at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, YSP and the Theatre Royal Wakefield present a rare opportunity to hear the internationally renowned artist discuss his extraordinary forty year career. David Nash (born 1945) is one of the UK's leading artists and has created works using wood, trees and the natural environment for over thirty-five years. His famous Ash Dome, trees planted as saplings in 1977 and cut and shaped, is now a mature dome centred on a plot of woodland in North Wales, Nash's 'laboratory' for growing works and a place for thinking. Nash was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1999 and in 2004 was awarded the Order of the British Empire. With fascinating insights into his life, David's talk will illustrate the evolution of his practice, from student days to the most extensive exhibition of his career, which opens at Yorkshire Sculpture Park on 29 May 2010. Pre-booking essential. To book please call 01924 211311 or visit www.theatreroyalwakefield.co.uk
