You, Me and Everybody Else

About

An exhibition exploring the concept of the extended portrait by six contemporary London photographers and artists will open at leading East London photographic gallery theprintspace from 7th May. The relationship between photographer and subject is complex, and the exhibition shows the camera's ability to capture both physical and psychological aspects. This is reflected in the portraits exhibited, which range from intimate and accessible to distant and mysterious. It is left to the viewer to intuit the psychology of the subjects and the photographer's intentions. theprintspace gallery, located in the heart of buzzing Shoreditch, is the perfect space to bring this diverse collection of photography together. Amongst the work is Irish photographer Linda Brownlee's developing relationship with an East London family she met across the garden fence and Annie Collinge's intensely coloured portraits of Linda Leven, an eccentric New Yorker she got to know after encountering her on the street. ‘You, Me and Everybody Else' opens at theprintspace gallery with a private view on Thursday, 6th May from 7pm and continues from 9am-7pm Monday-Friday until 26th May.
