About

Visitors to Inverleith House this Summer will be able to view the latest in a unique series of exhibitions in which contemporary art and botanical art are shown simultaneously. Forests and Gardens of South India is an exhibition of 55 botanical drawings made for the pioneering forest conservator Hugh Cleghorn (1826-1895) in the period 1845 to 1859. All of the drawings are being exhibited for the first time and the exhibition is part of an ongoing series featuring drawings made by Indian artists for the Scottish East India Company. The abstract sculptures of Californian artist Vincent Fecteau invite a consideration both of their form; embodying a complex and intense use of space - and also, being constructed of many thin layers of papier-mà ¢ché, the relationship between form and growth itself. At Inverleith House a group of new sculptures can be seen in the artist's first UK exhibition in a public gallery, presented in association with greengrassi, London.
