Jeffery Camp is an artist of great standing who has stubbornly and boldly pursued his own very personal vision and made paintings that are a lasting contribution to the art of our time. In this, his 86th year, the importance of Camp's work in the development of British figurative painting is being celebrated with the publication of Almanac, a three year long collaboration with Art Space Gallery that offers a personal view of his life as a painter. Camp has written that ‘A painter's work may change less in the middle years and explode with surprise at the end'. This exhibition will bring together a selection of work illustrated in Almanac to sit alongside the most recent works. Completed in the last two years they continue the themes from the vast panoramas of London and the south downland, populated by figures, either sleeping, flying or floating to tiny irregular panels of a solitary apple or a spider's web.They contain the experiences of a lifetime with an exuberance and new imaginative freedom undiminished by age.
