Mateo Lopez, Sleeping Box, Galeria KBK Arte Contemporaneo, 2007
Mateo Lopez will introduce his exhibition at Gaworks, discussing the development of his practice during the residency at Gasworks.
Mateo Lopez creates studio-like situations in which the production and display of the work overlap. His source material includes drawings, notes and photographs which are often taken in his journeys. In many of his installations, Lopez combines real objects with drawings, expanding the latter into three-dimensional forms to unfold narratives constructed by fragments and associations.
Mateo Lopez was born in Bogota, Colombia where he lives and works. His residency will lead to a two venue exhibition at Gasworks and Camberwell Space, opening in June.
