State of the Art

About

State of the Art is an upcoming contemporary art exhibition by students in the second year of our BA Fine Art degree at the University of Portsmouth.

This new and exciting show will offer a variety of styles and mediums which will push the boundaries of contemporary art. The work will span a broad spectrum, including painting, installation, sculpture, performance, film, and relational art, in a way which will reflect the individuality and diversity of the artists involved.

We have not limited ourselves to a specific theme, our main concern is that we construct a stimulating show that asserts and merits our presence within the University of Portsmouth.

'State Of The Art' reflects the difficult position we find ourselves in at a time when funding is being cut across the board, and as is so often the case, the creative courses tend to be the first to suffer.

With a high level of hard work and talent from the students there will be plenty to see and engage with.

It will be situated in the Eldon Gallery a subsidiary of SPACE.
