About

Chris Evans has a close relationship with sculpture parks so much so that his forthcoming book, Magnetic Promenade, is entirely devoted to these peculiar spaces whose function is always uncertain. Evans re-imagines what the use of these places might be the long-running project Radical Loyalty showcased at Studio Voltaire, projects what a sculpture park driven by global capitalism might look like.

Evans began working on the project in 2003 with the purchase of an unpromising piece of land in Järvakandi, an industrial town 80km south of the Estonian capital, Tallinn. Over the next year Evans conducted interviews with a number of Managing Directors from international companies such as Daimler Chysler Finance, Schlumberger Oil and Starbucks. He asked each how they would envision loyalty and how that concept might be thought of as radical. He then produced a series of etched prints and maquettes from these conversations, the complete set of which will be shown together for the first time at Studio Voltaire.
