Star City opens with a congress that explores the theoretical strands of the exhibition in the company of some of the exhibition’s artists, together with curators, researchers and writers whose combined work represents the most progressive, and provocative, thinking on the contemporary relevance of the future under communism.

Speakers include Kodwo Eshun and Anjalika Sagar (Otolith Group) and Aleksandra Mir (Star City artists). There will be two performances, by Otolith Group and by Pawel Althamer.

Other speakers include: David Crowley, Royal College of Art, curator of Cold War Modern exhibition at the V&A, Georg Schollhammer, researcher of 60s art and architecture in the Warsaw Pact countries, Lukasz Ronduda, curator of CCA Warsaw and co-curator of Star City, Rob La Frenais of Arts Catalyst, the organisation that has funded artists to work in Star City and Francesco Manacorda, curator of the Martian Museum of Extra-Terrestrial Art exhibition at the Barbican, London.
