Russell Young: Dirty Pretty Things

About

New 'diamond dust' paintings by Russell Young, including unique silkscreen prints of iconic figures from the silver screen and history of music. Young has created 'Marilyn Crying' - a stunning triptych of Hollywood Goddess Marilyn Monroe, and a special limited edition print of the Young Rolling Stone MIck Jagger. Using Andy Warhol's original printing press, Young is inspired by the glamour and the darker side of fame, and other figures in his work include the tragic lead singer of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, and 70's heiress turned Bank Robber, Patty Hearst. Young started out as an acclaimed photographer of iconic musicians including George Michael, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, before shooting a series of music videos in the heyday of MTV. He then turned his hand to art, still drawing inspiration from celebrities, as well as newspaper cuttings and popular culture. Recent exhibitions include Miami Art Basel and Palm Beach, Florida in 2009. British born but now living and working in New York and LA.
