Emily Wardill
Spacex presents a solo exhibition by London based British filmmaker Emily Wardill, one of the UK’s most exciting young artists, described by the Guardian as unafraid to ‘put her viewers between a rock and a hard place’.
The film entitled Game Keepers Without Game, is based on Pedro Calderón de la Barca’s Life is a Dream that was written in the 17th Century. Wardill’s new work translates the story into contemporary London; depicting a child banished from the family home at an early age.
The work, which is set to a complex drumming sound track, comprises of still shots of objects that become characters and a mixture of acted scenes where nothing and nobody touches.
Game Keepers Without Game is a powerful and contemporary feature length movie that tackles difficult social issues without compromise.
