In conjunction with Deptford X 2009:Flux the Old Police Station is delighted to present a programme of solo exhibitions, outdoor installations, group shows, residency projects, open studios and the start of a new radio station sited in the former Audio Interview Room. OpticalRadio.net will launch alongside the main exhibitions on the 25th Sep, 6-9pm, with an after-party of live bands in the fingerprint bar until 11pm. The radio station, along with The Metropolitan Tea Rooms takes the former police station another step closer to becoming a do-it-yourself-art-centre for the area.
There will be a changing programme of exhibitions over 10 days until the 4 Oct. Please find an introduction to the events below, with further information available from studios@tempcontemp.co.uk and information of other Deptford X projects at www.deptfordx.org
The main launch will be followed, on the 26 and 27 Sep, by Open Studios, 12-6pm with thirty studios over five floors open to the public.

Redo Pakistan. Political newspaper kiosk. Other Asias, a Pan-Asian contemporary art collective based in London, presents a staged press symposium and newspaper stall, forming the second part of its nomadic project. Other Asias looks at how Pakistan has shifted geographically, politically and
intellectually by temporary governments, unstable rulers, natural hazards, and the political super powers. Free newspapers are given away daily, 25 - 27 September.
David Burrow's Man Plus is an installation of assemblages, sound, moving images that draws upon the writing of Antonin Artaud and the story Man Plus by Frederik Pohl, both of which tell of a corrupt 'old world' and the creation of new humans. Artificial intelligence (A.I.), which to be sure has its own agenda, designed man plus to flourish in environments and situations that would kill you and I. So when the species breathes its last, man plus will sigh but only inwardly, for man plus has no lungs. 25 Sep 4 Oct, daily 12-6pm.
Anthony Gross' new film Columbo Eats Columbo will be screened in the Gym, from 25 - 30 Sep, 12-6pm. Filmed on location at The Old Police Station and other environments customised by Gross, the film follows an actor playing the detective Columbo piecing together the fragments of a practice that examines the death of analogue at the birth of the digital age in the late 1970s.
Assault is a video installation realised by Mário Pires Cordeiro and Joà £o Lima Duque, which will be projected in the yard 25 Sep 04 Oct, 12-6pm. Assault is a filmed performance project in which the artists âinvade venues of high cultural standing' at night to show their work a visual art installation and a solo work for piano. Cordeiro and Duque have created a geodesic space in the operations yard for this installation that will next tour to the Gulbenkian Foundation.
Site specific installation Better and Worse Solutions by Zoe Schoenherr and Ruth Caig, 25 - 30 Sep, running up the outside wall of the police station.
In the ground floor Interview Room a group show: The Principality of Youthdom... will be held between the 14th and 28th Sep. Realised by 10 young artists of the Lewisham Youth Offending Team, the exhibition seeks to explore the perception of self.
From the 1st to the 4th Oct the exhibition New X Atlantic will be installed in the interview room. It is an exhibition of collaborating students studying at Goldsmiths College, London and the California College of Arts, Oakland.
During all of September PoSt Projects will be collaborating with Mathilda Fowler, who will examine the original use of the project space as a Sergeant's Locker Room, researching sewage systems, cleansing rituals and the cultural implications of a society obsessed with products for cleanliness.
Volume project space will host a two week residency with the Cardiff based artists Sam Hasler and Jason Pinder. During Deptford X the public is invited to engage with the artists' process of accumulation, discussion and interaction.
From October 3 - 30, The Work in Progress group will be in residence at the Old Police Station Gym. Over the duration of this show, four artists Emma Hart, Benedict Drew, Dai Jenkins, Corinna Till, will explore in the public realm work that is ready to be seen and work that is not.
