About
Ten artists from East London who frequently exhibit as a group have created work specially for studio1.1.
Working in a wide variety of media each artist deals with the ubiquity of reference - today's 'blizzard of signs', exploring ways in which meaning is embedded in the material of the world to evoke the past and control the present. Signs as text, as defamiliarised found objects, as sensors tripping switches in the mind to trigger responses drawn from history, individual memory, and the far reaches of personal psychology.
