Neal Rock creates sculptural, materially overloaded objects through the layering of pigmented silicone. Often large in scale, his work for Walsall will incorporate pieces that occupy the central space of the gallery alongside more familiar wall based installations. His choice of material and processes aim to develop and transform a tradition of abstract painting, acknowledging the impact of recent film history and other media. This, his first major solo exhibition in a UK public gallery, will feature entirely new work.
