Take That - a selling exhibition of collectables & contemporary design

About

Take That the aspex summer selling show offers a rare opportunity to view and buy high quality collectable pieces by three contemporary British designer makers. As aspex continues to support emerging and established designer/makers, its reputation in the South as a platform for contemporary craft and print work grows. The artists included in Take That all use' ready-mades' as inspiration for their contemporary design pieces. The Deborah Bowness design collection is a series of ‘ready-made' digital and hand printed wallpapers. Bowness was a pioneer in this approach and has developed her own trompe l'oeil style that has a playful sophistication combining wallpaper panels with photographs of everyday items like clothing, shoes and mirrors. Exhibiting widely in museums and galleries including The Design Museum, Deborah cites such style icons as Paul Smith and Philip Stark as exclusive commissioners. Jonny Hannah studied at the Cowdenbeath College of Knowledge, Liverpool Art School and then the Royal College of Art. For the last eleven years he has been a freelance illustrator. His many clients include The Sunday Telegraph, The New York Times & The St. Kilda Courier. He happily lives in Southampton, and enjoys nothing better than going to his studio to illustrate, paint and savour the odd Tunnocks Caramel Wafer with a fresh cup of coffee. Tara Holmes is a maker with an eye for creating beautiful and unique pieces from carefully sourced objects. These elements, originating in junk shops, car boots and antique markets, are juxtaposed wittily to create unique intensely crafted pieces. Living and working in Hackney, East London and with her interest in fashion and art, Holmes adopts a free flowing aesthetic approach to all she creates. EVENT- Meet the Makers Saturday 12 September, 4-6pm Join us for tea and banter in an informal dialogue with the artists, open to all. FREE, no need to book.
