Dean Chapman - Burma: Children of Conflict

About

Since Burma regained independence from Britain in 1948, its peoples have known neither stability nor peace. Children continue to suffer lives of danger, hunger and fear. Tens of thousands of boys serve in the Burma Army, experiencing combat, fighting insurgent armies that also recruit children into their ranks. Chapman has been documenting Burma since 1990. He is the recipient of the European Publishers' Award for Photography 1998, which resulted in the publication of the book, 'Karenni, the Forgotten War of a Nation Beseiged.' His photographs of Burma have been published and exhibited internationally.
