About

Originally produced for the Venice Biennale in 2005, this is a series of works influenced by emblems from national stereotypes which the artist grew up with: the Russian spy, the terrorist, the redneck, the image of the outsider, the foreigner and the witch. Through this hotchpotch of moustaches, upper lips and berets Ford became assailed by darker thoughts of hostages and prisoners in postures of humiliation and defeat.
