This exhibition juxtaposes two distinct yet sympathetic approaches to making art. The combination of cool linear work against expressionistic imagery ranging from pure abstraction to precise figuration allows viewers the opportunity to explore contrasting ideas of the artist as mark-maker.
James’ work involves succinct drawings that respond to his direct surroundings; be they domestic scenes or the built environment.
Gail believes in playing with the paint and exploring its potential to make marks. She undertakes an exploration of the boundaries that divide and unite abstraction and figuration. Both artists believe that the viewer brings their own interpretation to the works.
