The Who to the house

This exhibition is part of a series of Text to Image Exhibitions and Publications at London College of Communication. The relationship between text and image has become one of the main signatures in the developments in creative writing at the college and has encouraged many new writers into poetry and prose. Students write original poems exploring the themes and emotions evoked by images, which are exhibited and published. Colin Jones is one of the most celebrated and prolific photographers of post-war Britain. He has documented facets of social history over the years as diverse as the vanishing industrial working lives of the Northeast (Grafters), delinquent Afro-Caribbean youth in London taken in 1973 (The Black House), and most recently, the high-octane hedonism of ‘Swinging London' with his famous pictures of The Who early in their career (Maximum Who). Following the exhibitions of Jones' famous photographs of The Who and The Black House, LCC will host an exhibition of these images and poems written by students, inspired by the photographs.
