Inner City Ooz the first exhibition of music, visual art and performances by Jack & Archy Marshall aka Mistr Gone and King Krule.
Display Gallery is pleased to present Inner City Ooz – the first exhibition of music, visual art and performances by Jack & Archy Marshall aka Mistr Gone and King Krule. Known for their association with the vibrant and daring SE London’s art and music scene, the two are now embarking on another bold venture that highlights their artistic partnership and marks their arrival as a new and authentic voice in the world of contemporary art.
Intersecting memories and moments of lived experience are brought together in an impressively diverse body of work incorporating poetry, music, painting, illustration, silk-screen and linocut– all acts of artistic liberation that address universal themes of the memory, time, and role of the artist in an evolving cityscape. Through an immersive installation of soundscapes and live performances the show aims to create a secluded, fictional environment where the viewer can find refuge from the outside world and reflect on the endless possibilities that one can discover within oneself.
The downstairs gallery space showcases a series of large-scale, over layered, text-based, abstract works – collaborative pieces that bring together Archy’s poetry and Jack’s layers of paint.
A soundscape based on the study of low-frequencies will engulf the space and “vibrate the viewer”, responding to their interaction with the art works. Contrastingly, the upstairs room is a more controlled and structured space occupied by a carefully arranged display of figurative work such as drawings, limited edition illustrations and photographs.
