Anne Miele: Pleasant Remembrances
This July, Foundation & Trust Gallery will present Pleasant Remembrances, a new exhibition by artist Anna Miele.
Pleasant Remembrances consists of a series of works that involve historic notions whether they be concrete or abstract. Inherent in this new body of work, notions of generic histories juxtapose personalised, individual identities: a tactical deployment of pseudo-memory, assumed for the existing spaces surrounding the Balfron Tower. The site specific works reflect a sense of re-invention of old re-worked material displayed in a domestic space, highlighting the ever changing state, functions and populations of the area.
Miele’s intentions are to explore the qualities of material. Through process she allows herself to rework and rebuild on found or new material, adding authenticity and creating a new history for the material. Throughout the show, Miele continues to push the boundaries within painting using low value household mediums against conventional oil and spray paints to address the ideology of value within an artistic context.
