Caribbean Open

Painting, textiles, sculpture, graffiti, jewellery, drawing, video, photography, anything goes.

Surface Gallery invites all local artists to explore and embrace Caribbean culture. The event will coincide with this year’s Nottingham Caribbean Carnival, taking place across the city on 16th and 17th of August.

For this spectacular and colourful exhibition, Surface will provide a stage to celebrate different kinds of creative expression, bringing the community together with Caribbean music, art and food.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this Open Call for submissions. Up to six pieces can be submitted per person, for £5 per work or £20 for six, and every submission will be displayed. All we ask is that your work be Caribbean themed. Application packs can be downloaded from or paper copies can be picked up from the gallery during opening hours.
