About

North East Touring presents.. Made by the same creative team as Magnetic North's hit show Walden (2009-2010), A Walk at the Edge of the World examines the particular character of the coast - a crossing point where the land meets the sea, a place of arrival and departure. A Walk at the Edge of the World begins with a short walk taken by the whole audience, from the sea to the theatre. Once inside the theatre, as the performer begins to talk about walks he has taken, audience and performer find the projected images leading us all on another journey. The hidden secrets of the landscape and the constantly shifting border between land and sea remind us that the past is always with us, whether we realise it or not. Background of Magnetic North.. Magnetic North is a theatre company based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was formed in 1999 by theatre and opera director Nicholas Bone to create and develop new work. We work with actors, playwrights, designers and composers to produce theatre that is stylish, articulate and individual. We curate and run Rough Mix, a cross-artform creative development programme. Recent work includes Sex and God by Linda McLean (CATS nominee for Best New Play), Kora by Tom McGrath in co-production with Dundee Rep and the 'sort of opera' Pass the Spoon at Tramway, Traverse and Southbank Centre - Daft and instantly loveable" Guardian.
