First we looked up and wondered about the skies and heaven. Then we looked inwards, into the body. This curiosity, the question of how humans live and die, think and feel, bleed and heal, has inspired our imagination for thousands of years. Dissecting bodies and studying them has given us modern science, and today we know so much about the anatomy that we can even transplant hearts. But this internal carving still fails to appease a bigger craving: understanding the human soul. Understanding our emotions, our decisions, our suffering, our happiness and despair-- this metaphysical reality, and its relation to our material and corporal existence, is what the artists in this show have explored in their works.
