About

Norio Nishihara is a Japanese artist, renowned for making creative and outlandish headgear known as ‘Kaburimono'. Working as a props costume artist for television programmes and major events, Nishihara's abstract creations of masks and hats inspired from almost anything have also been exhibited in museums in Japan. In these special workshops at the Japan Foundation, London, Norio will guide you to make your very own wacky Kaburimono using just rolled up newspaper, coloured tape and your limitless imagination! There will also be an opportunity to try on some of Nishihara's very own creations (pictured above), and take photos. You can also learn to write name in Japanese on your own kaburimono. The workshops are guaranteed to be a fun half-term treat for both kids and fun-loving adults. Make sure you wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty! For ages 7 to 107 (children under 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult) Booking: The workshops are free to attend but booking is essential. To register, please email your name and the session you would like to attend to: event@jpf.org.uk
