About

5-6pm Tea and biscuits are served and radio channels are streamed live from Iraq. 6-7pm Talk with Louisa Macmillan, Hanaa Malallah and Dr Mo Throp Independent curator Louisa Macmillan joins artists Hanaa Malallah and Dr. Mo Throp to discuss what it meant to be a practising artist in Iraq before and after the invasion and how the situation is now, more than ten years afterwards. They consider the role of art, especially contemporary art, in modern day Iraq and what steps need to be taken to ensure a political transition that allows for a free and secure position of artists working there. Hanaa Malallah is an artist and has been a Visiting Fellow with Chelsea's Graduate School as a political refugee since she fled her post as Professor of Fine Art at Baghdad University following the invasion in 2003. Dr Mo Throp is an artist and Associate Researcher at Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts. Louisa Macmillan is an independent curator, specialising in modern and contemporary Arab art. She studied Arabic and Islamic Art before working at the British Museum, where she became the Eisler curator of modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art. She now writes and curates independently, working directly with individual artists. 6-7.30pm No67 serves a selection of dishes inspired by traditional Iraqi cuisine. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. 7.30-8.30pm Performance with sound artist Fari Bradley The galleries close at 9pm. No booking required.
