This course will help you build a strong portfolio of relevant work and develop your creative process. Taught by a practising design professional, who will share their knowledge of the world of art, design and visual communication and provide you with clear guidance, as your ideas develop. The timetable will be fast-paced, fun and exciting, presenting you with a variety of graphic design scenarios. We will encourage you to push yourself to think and work creatively and communicate your design ideas visually. This course is focused on conceptual development and ideas; offering a taste of full time degree study, where lateral thinking and the creation of a portfolio of design work are the goal. You'll use simple drawing and rough work as a means to generate and express ideas quickly. You'll also be encouraged to experiment with photography, collage and illustration in the process. Computer use is optional on this course and no tuition in software is given. However, you will be advised about design software, and which programs would be appropriate to finalise ideas. To receive the maximum benefit from the course, students should allow time to work on their projects between classes.
