About

As part of A Song, A Dance And A New Stannary Parliament, artist Simon Pope held a series of meetings in a number of stannary towns with musicians Jim Causley and Bill Murray, cultural environmentalist Dr. Tom Greeves and others to explore historical and contemporary relationships to the tin ore that lies under Dartmoor. These discussions informed the writing of the new song, a ballad which imagines future engagements with the tin, raising questions about our attitudes to this natural resource. A performance of the newly penned ‘anthem for Dartmoor', along with traditional songs and poetry which informed the song's development will take place, followed by a Q&A with the artist and musicians, and a screening of the short film documenting the project.
