About

HEAR FROM THE INDUSTRY'S LEADING FEMALE CINEMATOGRAPHERS AT AN EVENING OF DISCUSSION AND NETWORKING Lighthouse presents this satellite event as part of Birds Eye View film festival to celebrate the work of female cinematographers in the UK. As a visual medium, a film's aesthetic is hugely important. And whilst we can namedrop cinematographers such as Roger Deakins and Anthony Dod Mantle, we hear less about Ellen Kuras, Agnès Godard and Charlotte Bruus Christensen. But in the UK right now, there is a growing number of women making their name as standout cinematographers. Join us for this informative panel discussion where our speakers will share their working processes, offer technical advice and talk about how they've advanced their career. Hosted by Deputy Head of Festivals at BFI Tricia Tuttle, the panel includes Taina Galis and Chloë Thomson, with more speakers to be confirmed soon. Reflecting on some of the films from BFI Shorts 2012, as well as previous Guiding Lights mentees, we want to shine a light on their work and talk about the future. This event is aimed at those interested in becoming cinematographers, as well as those looking to network and collaborate. After the event we will be hosting networking drinks in the bar. This event is in partnership with Birds Eye View, Underwire and WFTV. Date: Wednesday 9 April 2014 Time: Doors open 6.30pm, talk starts at 7pm. Location: Lighthouse, 28 Kensington Street, Brighton BN1 4AJ Tickets: £5 (£3.50 concessions) Booking: Eventbrite Hashtag: #WomenDOP
