Conversation: Teaching and Learning as Performing Arts

About

A discussion to launch the facsimile edition of Robert Filliou's 'Teaching and Learning as Performing Arts'. Featuring artist Richard Demarco and co-founder of Occasional Papers Antony Hudek. First published in 1970 and long out of print, visionary artist Robert Filliou's essential primer 'Teaching and Learning as Performing Arts' has now been reprinted in its entirety by Occasional Papers. Along with extensive writing by Filliou, the book includes interviews with numerous artists close to him, such as Joseph Beuys, George Brecht, John Cage, Dorothy Iannone, Allan Kaprow and Diter Rot. Richard Demarco, CBE, OBE, maverick gallerist and curator responsible for introducing numerous radical performance-based European artists to the UK in the 1960s and 1970s, will be in conversation with Antony Hudek, co-director of Occasional Papers. The event will feature an excerpt of the rarely heard performance/conference 'The Gong Show', recorded by Filliou in Calgary in 1977, courtesy of Clive Robertson.
