About

A drop-in open studio for you to come and meet professional illustrators at work, ask their advice and have a go at drawing yourself. Professional and published illustrator Lauren Tobia (http://www.laurentobia.com and Brillustration www.brillustrationbristol.blogspot.co.uk) will be hosting professional illustrators who will be showing their work and demonstrating how they work. Lauren will also be working on a collaborative illustration throughout the day and inviting visitors to join in and add their drawings. Fun suitable for all ages! We can now announce the wonderful ine up of illustrators who will be here to answer your questions. Sarah Smith I am a MA graduate from Cambridge School of Art, and I have my first picture book coming out in May this year with Tate Publishing. Sarah will also be teaching a 1-day workshop Illustration Drawing for Children's Books, on Saturday, 15th February at 10.30-4.30pm, £50. A workshop for adults wishing to learn the techniques for children's book illustration in the Bristol Drawing School at the RWA. To book, contact:0117 973 5129 Lauren Tobia Lauren is a Bristol based children's illustrator who has illustrated books published both in the UK and America. She is currently illustrating the Critically acclaimed and popular Anna Hibiscus series written by Atinuke and published by Walker books. She is one of the organisers of Brillustration an illustrators social collective and lists her hobbies as drinking tea and procrastinating. wwwlaurentobia.com Donough O'Malley Donough is and Illustrator and author from Ireland. He has been working as a freelancer Illustrator for fourteen years, ever since studying at U.W.E. and at the University of Brighton. In that time he has worked in a variety of areas including children's books, editorial, and advertising. He has worked for a large number of clients in the UK, Ireland, the USA and Argentina. He has also taken part in exhibitions in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Austria and Belgium. His first picture book 'Monkey See Monkey Do' was shortlisted for the Cambridge Picture book award. His work has also been featured in the Association of Illustrators Images annuals, Creative Quarterly New York, 3x3 directory and Juxtapoz. www.pencilrobot.net Sean Julian Sean was born in Derbyshire and studied at the Mansfield College of Art before moving to Bristol to study Illustration. Since 2001 he has been a freelance illustrator working for a range of UK publishers. Being himself big and hairy, he was always happiest drawing Bears, Gorillas and other big hairy creatures, it was this that naturally led him to a career in Children's books illustration.
