Leyden Gallery present The Humanimal Performance: The Red Blinder plus Artist Talk
To mark the final exhibition week of Animal/Liminal, Leyden Gallery present their first special Live Arts Performance accompanied by an Artist talk on 16th January 6:30pm – 9pm
The Humanimal Performance:
The Red Blinder
Halfway between deer and human, between reality and fiction, she sings. Her chant tells us that we need to re-learn to read, to identify ourselves with hunter and prey, to develop nocturnal vision so we can anticipate the bullet. Otherwise, in the future we will all be venison.
Federico Vladimir Strate Pezdirc (b. Buenos Aires, 1983), in collaboration with Sophie Taylor (Newcastle, 1987), presents The Red Blinder, a duet between a hunter and a prey.
Federico Vladimir is a storyteller based in London. He holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Universidad Complutense (Madrid) and an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art (London). Strate Pezdirc's films have been shown at the Documentary Film Festival Cinéma du Réel (Centre Pompidou) & at the BFI (London), and have received several awards including the first Prize at the Auditorio de Galicia and the INJUVE Young Creators award.
Sophie Taylor is a live Artist based in London. She holds a degree in Live Arts from Kingston Universty and an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art. Taylor's work stands between music and performance art. The songs performed for The Red Blinder are included in her first album Dogs of London (2013).
Alongside the Humanimal performance we are also pleased to present a gallery talk by Animal/Liminal artists Lindsay Moran, Rosie O'Grady, Perdita Sinclair and Hazel Mountford
